Since we launched our website, we have frequently been asked, “Where is Bayliss Hull #1?”
B1, Bandit, is the boat that unwittingly launched a boatbuilding career. John Bayliss agreed to build a boat for his friend, and employer at the time, while working as a boat captain, so he built Bandit in his spare time at night and on weekends behind his house in Mann’s Harbor, NC.
The boat, built for fishing out of South Carolina, was designed to be a solid, wash-and-wear weekend sportfishing boat. The goal was to provide a good ride offshore and enough tankage to carry plenty of fuel to get the job done.
Bandit lives in Georgetown and Charleston, South Carolina, with her current owner.
