In April, Bayliss Boatworks unveiled their most recent 75’ build, Blank Check. This build was a special one. Commissioned by the owner of Bayliss 64’ Blank Check(Hull 10), the second Blank Checkrequired total secrecy throughout the length of the build, as she was an impressive gift for the owner’s father.
Begun in February 2017 and delivered in April, three months ahead of schedule,Blank Checkis a product of over 68,000 man hours – equaling nearly 26 months of labor. Her early delivery accommodated additional events, including her debut in this year’s Custom Shootout in Abaco, Bahamas. After the tournament, she will head to Bermuda and the Virgin Islands for the summer Blue Marlin season.
Blank Check’s hullis blanketed in Cloud White with a red and gold bootstripe to compliment her gold-foiled transom artwork. Because she will spend most of her life in the tropics, she is outfitted in color-matched faux teak accents on the toe rail and drip molding in order to reduce brightwork maintenance. Complimenting her flowing lines are a natural teak transom, cockpit bulkhead, salon door and helm pod. Her windshield is black and she is equipped with a full tower.
Blank Check features a full anodized and mirror polished tower and buggy top, supplied by Palm Beach Towers, complete with controls. The flybridge is a custom Bayliss Boatworks center console layout with a three-sided enclosure. Tackle and gear accommodation are plentiful on the flybridge, within both the forward brow and bench seats. The forward bench houses two custom stainless-steel refrigerated boxes. The tower hardtop, standing platform, and buggy top are all carbon fiber to reduce weight. The Rupp outriggers are 4 spreader hydraulics, all heavy-duty in order to hold up to rough conditions and aggressive dredge-style fishing.
The cockpit is designed with gear accommodation in mind as well. The mezzanine area features custom freezer and refrigerated boxes, a drink box, a large ice bin, and copious amounts of tackle and storage space. There is a built-in livewell supply, as well as adaptability for a fighting chair or rocket launcher.
The interior of Blank Checkis warm, inviting, and bold. Upon entering the salon, the four-inch solid teak plank flooring offers a sleek backdrop for the salon and galley. The bold leather-finish Golden Thunder granite installed throughout the upper and lower levels easily compliments the bold teak veneers in the surrounding cabinetry. A custom L-shaped sofa sits alongside three barstools and a starboard sofa in the salon space.
The galley features three SubZero refrigerators, one SubZero freezer, a Miele speed oven and cooktop, a Hoshizaki ice maker, and a wine cooler. The space is further customized with a European Sycamore Berle wood ceiling treatment above the center island, a unique feature in this build. Before the transition to the lower level, a pantry and day head are located just aft of the companionway stairs – a common feature on larger Bayliss Boatworks builds.
The lower level is organized for maximum accommodation and storage. The four-staterooms and three-and-a-half heads are well integrated; to the starboard, four crew bunks are adjoined with a spacious head separating the two. The joined space includes ample storage and attractive valances. Across the companionway, the VIP stateroom is a stand-alone accommodation with a shower and head, incredible amounts of teak-veneered storage cabinetry, and a headboard valence that completely ties the room together.
The forward master stateroom features a custom sofa, complete with built-in storage and two teak-veneered hanging lockers. The most striking part of the master stateroom is a rough-cut stone slab hanging above the bed, filled with fossilized fish and other marine creatures; the feature is a must see.
Blank Check is powered with MTU M96L 16V engines, each with 2,600 horsepower. Her top speed is 44 knots. Blank Check’s cruise (depending on rpm) ranges from 34-37 knots. All surfaces in her machinery spaces from the bow stem tothe transom are glassed, faired, and painted with the same finish as her exterior. The electrical and mechanical layouts for wiring and plumbing are also efficiently run to Bayliss Boatworks specifications for ease of maintenance or future additions. Standard on all of large Bayliss projects are 100-amp shore power services for each side, custom built distribution panels, Dometic dual chilled water A/C, dual FCI water makers with dockside purification capabilities, a 1000 lb. per day Dometic ice-maker, Imtra Hydraulic bow thrusters and windlass, and our hydraulic emergency pump system that services the three main spaces below deck. For stability, she is outfitted with a Seakeeper 26.
